Chi Wang's work combines composition, sound design, and performance of electronic music using repurposed game controllers and unusual custom-built instruments.
Wang has performed her compositions at high-profile electronic music gatherings such as the International Computer Music Conference, where she won the Best Piece (Americas) award in 2018; national conferences of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, where her composition “Peony Garden” was voted by the membership to appear on the 2018 conference CD; New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival; and many others.
She is a professor at the Jacobs School of Music, and translates many important texts on electroacoustic music into Chinese.
