Joanna Bailie – A giant creeps out of a keyhole

This concert has already taken place. Click here for our current concert programme.

British Berlin-based composer Joanna Bailie is one of the jury members for the Gaudeamus Award 2024. In her work she often incorporates manipulated field recordings and visual components, such as a camera obscura and film. At The Pit, on the Saturday night of Gaudeamus Festival 2024, her film A giant creeps out of a keyhole will be shown twice. She herself recites the text and Ensemble Contrechamps plays the music, conducted by Lin Liao. A giant creeps out of a keyhole explores how paintings, photographs and field recordings have the power to transport us from one place to another.
