The Keuris Quartet (named after composer Tristan Keuris) devotes itself energetically to attracting a larger audience to contemporary music made by living composers. Tonight these four former students of Arno Bornkamp will perform works by three young composers. These three pieces are the result of an open call and reading session for composers between the ages of 10 and 35 years, in cooperation with the Grachtenfestival.
Tonight you will hear a piece by 17-year old (!) composer Maarten Bauer, one of the youngest composers ever featured during Gaudeamus Muziekweek. Stanislav Makovsky’s new piece for saxophones and electronics and the Dutch premier of Saxophone Quartet by Austrian composer Georg Friedrich Haas will complete the programme.
