BUI – Listening route along the Nijverheidskade

This concert has already taken place. Click here for our current concert programme.

The young Utrecht ensemble BUI (‘Promoting Utrecht Improvisation’) creates multidisciplinary art that responds to the environment, the audience and the moment. Their walking concert in Amelisweerd was one of the highlights of Gaudeamus 2020. This year they explore a completely different environment: the former industrial area-in-the-making on the Nijverheidskade. The route can be experienced at three times (12:00, 14:30 and 17:00) on the Saturday and Sunday of Gaudeamus 2021.

BUI is our ensemble-in-residence in 2021. They spent a year researching new forms of performance art, culminating in their two performance days during the festival. The central research question is: How do you make the city your own as an artist and as a resident? Can the city become a canvas for music, performance and art? During a meditative journey full of improvisation, musicians and audience together make an attempt at achieving this..

Listening route along the Nijverheidskade is part of the In Situ/City project. This project was implemented in the framework of the ULYSSES Network, Co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
