Charity evening for Ukraine

This concert has already taken place. Click here for our current concert programme.

We are appalled by what is happening in Ukraine. That is why Gaudeamus, TivoliVredenburg and the Russian cellist Maya Fridman join forces for a charity evening for Ukraine. During the evening, several musicians (including the Ukrainian pianist Anna Federova and star cellist Misha Maisky) in various line-ups play music from the rich and centuries old culture of the country. In between the music there are Q&As with historian Laurien Crump (Utrecht University) about the roots of this conflict as well as the current situation.

Initiator Maya Fridman (artist in residence at Gaudeamus 2017-2019) wants to “show the binding the force and call for peace” by performing together with the Ukrainian pianist Anna Federova. Federova says it’s impossible for her to express in words what she feels. “With my Ukrainian and Russian heritage, this war is an unimaginable nightmare that has become reality.”

The musicians and speaker are volunteering, TivoliVredenburg offers its room and personel. All the money being made will go to Giro555. You can choose the amount that you wish to pay for the ticket.

This programme is part of #hArtForUkraine, in which various Dutch cultural organisations and creators show their support.
