Club Fluxus: Biophonica – Evelien van den Broek

Biophonica Evelien van den Broek

Biophonica is a requiem for the victims of mankind. With sound recordings of extinct and endangered species (collected among others by the American musician and ecologist Bernie Krause), disturbing melodies, noise and devastating beats, composer/performer Evelien van den Broek and trumpeter Mark Nieuwenhuis bemoan the destruction of nature due to habitat loss, pollution and meat consumption. A penetrating performance that is a mix of electronic music, pop music, contemporary classical and sound art. Van den Broek is in great demand as a composer for documentaries, dance and theatre, among other genres. She is a member of indie electronics band Daisy Bell and has collaborated with gamelan ensemble Gending.
