The young composer Jesse Passenier operates on the frontier between classical music and jazz. With his Fluid Orchestra, an eight-member project ensemble, here joined by the Dudok Quartet, Passenier recounts personal stories about the power of nature and mankind’s place therein. When it comes to Passenier, think of Ligeti, Ravel, big band, jazz, lyrical melodies and colourful harmonies. For this project his music will be enhanced by live visuals by Anne Gentenaar.
Fluxus, which means ‘fluid’ or ‘constantly changing’, is a series in Club Nine organized in collaboration with TivoliVredenburg. This series focuses on young ensembles and musicians and consists of programmes containing a whole lot of new repertoire showcasing the latest developments in contemporary music. Where possible, the composers will be present and will discuss their own work. The small-scale and informal set-up places the audience in very close contact with the performers.
