Dag van de Componist: Kamerkoor JIP

Kamerkoor JIP celebrates its 10th anniversary with five new compositions. This concert by Kamerkoor JIP is part of the Day of the Composer, a national festival in which more than 100 active composers in the Netherlands are in the spotlight. The festival is an initiative of the network and platform New Music NOW. After this concert, there is an expensive free programme at Plein 6 in TivoliVredenburg.

In June 2023 Kamerkoor JIP will be 10 years old. The Utrecht based choir made a name for itself by performing hundreds of choral works of relatively unknown origins, dozens of commissioned compositions and the poetic connection with today’s social themes. A ten-year anniversary deserves a party! That is why Kamerkoor JIP asked five composers to write a work, inspired by the choristers’ search for perspective, connection and a sense of belonging in the turbulent world in which we live. New works that are about the singers themselves, about what moves them, what our individual strengths are as human beings and where we find each other. This results in concerts with five soloists (Iranian and Spanish vocals, trumpet, electronics, piano and percussion) under the title Maar de zon is nog op (But the sun is still up).
