Composers are rarely put in the spotlight. High time to let living Dutch composers shine, during the Day of the Composer. Visitors are welcome all day long during live radio broadcasts, and in the evening a versatile concert program is played from all parts of the building, coordinated by Gaudeamus and TivoliVredenburg. Moreover, at the beginning of the afternoon the largest graphic score of all time will be rolled out, from Utrecht CS to TivoliVredenburg … and played of course!
Countless Utrecht based music organizations and groups contribute to the evening program of the Day of the Composer. Brand-new winners of the Dutch Violin Competition will play music by living Dutch composers. New work by young composers from the music network Rizoom will be played and Frisse Oren will play pieces from their youth performance STREK (3+) with music by Oene van Geel. The ensembles Postland, Insomnio and T R O M P O perform work that they have developed in close collaboration with various composers. Makers collective BUI shows that composing is also something that can happen spontaneously and on the spot, and Gemma Luz Bosch shows that there is sound in clay.
Music by Gemma Luz Bosch, Ben van Bueren, Oene van Geel, Frieda Gustavs, Abel Kroon, Marthe Lasthuis, Laura Nygren, Martijn Padding, Joey Roukens, Jacob ter Veldhuis, Bart de Vrees.
