Gaudeamus is not only a presenting festival, but also an organisation for talent development. Every year we commission numerous composers to write brand-new work for the festival. This year we have, among other things, called on composers between the ages of 10 and 35 to submit work for the unique Duo Ebano (clarinettist Marco Danesi and keyboardist Paolo Gorini). The result can be heard in this concert.
Duo Ebano is by no means an everyday piano/clarinet duo: Gorini regularly exchanges his piano for a MIDI-powered seaboard, and the duo works and experiments closely with adventurous young composers. The pieces that resulted from the invitation for this concert premiered during the Grachtenfestival and will, after the Gaudeamus Muziekweek, be repeated during November Music.
