Graduated just three years ago violinist Diamanda Dramm is now already a phenomenon on the stage. To quote Gonzo Circus, “Violinist Diamanda Dramm is one of those people who radiate a boundless energy when she makes music. But even if she seems about to burst, her playing remains sharp, controlled and full of detail”. She has already walked off with a whole series of prizes, won the Dutch Classical Talent Award and next season will appear regularly at the Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven. She feels at home in both classical and contemporary music and loves to get her teeth into brand-new works.

Together with the Grachtenfestival, Gaudeamus called on young composers to write new music for her. Dramm hopes above all that this will enable her to experiment and be innovative with her instrument. This programme presents the result of this ‘call for scores’ and comprises a selection of works containing new sounds and colours for solo violin.
