Gaudeamus is not merely a festival, but every year it also gives young composers the opportunity to write new work for prominent musicians and thus to place themselves in the spotlight. Every year includes a composition assignment in collaboration with the Grachtenfestival and November Music. This year, composers were given the chance to write a new work for harpist Michela Amici, who plays both the triple harp and the pedal harp. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque music to brand new contemporary music. She loves theatrical and spatial aspects in music, and her inspiration often lies in architecture and scenography.
