Canadian string quartet Bozzini loves taking risks, experimenting, collaborating and straying from the beaten track. From 20th-century avant-garde composers to contemporary drone artists, the quartet knows how to deal with them. On Friday evening, they will play works by two nominees for the Gaudeamus Award 2023: Saad Haddad and Aya Yoshida (with soprano Ly Tran).
Also on the programme: Jimmie LeBlanc’s string quartet Tambours Intérieurs. A work inspired by the quick heartbeat of the baby in the womb, with such energy and astonishing determination. In this piece each musical moment arises spontaneously and independently, claiming a place in the bigger picture.
