Breton bagpiper, composer and improviser likes to look for unconventional sounds and ways to play his instrument, far away from its original cultural setting. He has already explored improvised music and free jazz, compiling a repertoire of contemporary music for solo pipes, trios with solo vocals and with choir.
Last year, we issued an open call encouraging adventurous composers to write for this extraordinary musician and his special sound. Four composers took up the challenge: Esther Wu, Eric So and Nicholas Morrish (nominee Gaudeamus Award 2019). During this concert their pieces will be premiered.
