The 18th-century sawmill De Ster (The Star), rebuilt last century, together with the yard surrounding it, is an oasis of peace, space and greenery in the middle of the hectic city of Utrecht. A place to unwind completely. At this idyllic location Gaudeamus will present a programme consisting of two improvisation sessions during which both musicians and audience will surrender totally to the moment.
The musicians of the collective BUI (Promotion of Utrecht Improvisation) got to know each other during their education at the Utrecht Conservatory. Saxophonist Koen Boeijinga has received carte blanche from BUI and Gaudeamus for an impressive improvisation set with a new group of musicians.
The Water Trio, consisting of guitarist Bram Stadhouders, viola player Oene van Geel and singer Maryana Golovchenko, improvise around texts based on water and rivers.
