The German composer and music theatre maker Heiner Goebbels is a high-profile European artist who has presented his exceptional and idiosyncratic productions at various venues, including the Holland Festival. He was also artistic director of the Ruhrtriennale for three years. Last year a publication of his appeared: Aesthetics of Absence. In this compelling publication he examines in detail the many assumptions and hierarchical structures which appear to be the norm within theatre productions in the West. The lecture’s moderator will be Anthony Heidweiller, baritone, founder of Operamakers and artistic associate of the Opera Forward Festival.
Work of Heiner Goebbels is performed by Insomnio during Gaudeamus Saturday Night.
