British composer Richard Ayres, himself winner of the 1994 Gaudeamus Award, returns to this festival edition as a jury member for the Award. For his compositions he likes to use all sorts of different musical elements jumbled up. He does not believe in rules and is of the opinion that it is only the limits of his own imagination which impose restrictions on him.
In this Jury Talk about The hard cut and juxtaposition he will discuss his own works and examine the issue of combining styles which have nothing to do with each other. This will be followed by a Composers Meeting during which young composers and Ayres can spar with each other on this or related subjects, with no holds barred.
