High-profile Italian composer Clara Iannotta – jury member for the Gaudeamus Award 2019 – is fascinated by the interaction between ear and eye: music as a visual experience and vice versa.
‘We should look at music and listen to theatre,’ as her compatriot and composer Luciano Berio once said during a lesson at Harvard University. It was this sentence that determined Iannotta’s choice of artistic path. In this Jury Talk she discusses the opportunities and significance visual music can offer today.
