This brand new concert season Gaudeamus brings you an intimate series of concerts in KuuB, a gallery annex mutifunctional space for art and culture in a picturesque old part (museumkwartier) of Utrecht. KuuB is a beautiful venue for contemporary art exhibits, but is also particularly suitable for unusual chamber music concerts devoted entirely to the newest music. Young music pioneer and winner of the Gaudeamus Award 2017 Aart Strootman, gets the honor to kick off our new season with a concert in KuuB.
Aart Strootman is a groundbreaking guitarist / composer who shakes up the music industry of this time. His intellect and fresh look on music genres and styles make him a prominent figure in contemporary music. As winner of the Gaudeamus Award 2017, he is praised by the jury as “a performer, an improviser, an inventor and a unique compose. He approaches composition with exceptional freshness and re-discovers the sound of each instrument to the finest detail.”
Strootman created a programme with guitar operations of compositions by Aphex Twin and Erik Satie and original works for guitar by Morton Feldman, Anthony Fiumara and Strootman himself.
