KuuB concert: Katharina Gross & Fie Schouten

This concert has already taken place. Click here for our current concert programme.

Bass clarinettist Fie Schouten and cellist Katharina Gross are both enthusiastic advocates of contemporary music. But that’s not the only thing they have in common: they both like to explore lower frequencies, love sound in the broadest sense of the word and like to use theatrical aspects in their performances.

Duo Gross & Schouten has been invited in the 2023/24 season to give concerts and workshops during the Izmir New Music Days in Turkey and the Dias de Música Electroacústica in Portugal, where they will perform Dutch compositions by Seung-Won Oh and Rozalie Hirs, among others. In this Gaudeamus program the product of their workshops will be heard with work by young Korean, Turkish and Portuguese composers.

In addition, the premiere of two works written for the duo by Tolga Tüzün and Dimitris Andrikopoulos. The final piece is Oi Kuu for cello and bass clarinet, by and in honor of the recently deceased composer Kaija Saariaho.
