Iranian composers can suddenly be found everywhere in the world of composed music in the Netherlands. For example with a world premiere of a work by composer Elnaz Seyedi in the Gaudeamus Music Week, performed by the International Ensemble Modern Academy. Or a commission from Gaudeamus to composer Kaveh Vares for the trio Arezoo Rezvani, Maya Fridman and Farid Sheek. Or an opera in the Holland Festival by Aftab Darvashi. And so on and so forth.
Where does this wave of Iranian composers suddenly come from? Composers Elnaz Seyedi and Kaveh Vares will give us a glimpse into the Iranian contemporary music scene. They will be questioned by Liselotte Sels, musicologist, pianist and harpsichordist with a specialization in, among other things, Iranian music and Turkish folk music.
