Every year Gaudeamus’ new music is played during the first free lunch break concert of the season in TivoliVredenburg. This year’s concert is devoted entirely to the work of young composers who have submitted work for the Tera de Marez Oyens Award: a biennial incentive prize for promising young composers living in the Netherlands.
Tera de Marez Oyens was one of the most significant Dutch composers of the last century, and her intellectual legacy continues to influence today’s young composers. The prize named after her is awarded every two years. This year any student who graduated from a Dutch conservatory in the past three years was eligible to submit works. During this concert all the selected pieces will be played, following which the prize will be awarded. Me ander, a new piece by the winner of the prize in 2018, Remy Alexander, is performed by percussionist Reggy van Bakel.
