New music from the Dom Tower 2019 – Malgosia Fiebig

This concert has already taken place. Click here for our current concert programme.

The carillon of the Dom Tower is the sound of Utrecht. Thanks to the creative city carillonneur Malgosia Fiebig, who likes to respond to current events, new music emanates from the tower every week. For the Gaudeamus Muziekweek she delved into history, and plays a ‘greatest hits’ programme of carillon pieces from the last decades by contemporary composers.

Louis Andriessen wrote his De Toren in 1988. For the real fans of De Dom it is already a minor classic, and Fiebig has already played it a number of times. Also returning are Mother by Martijn Comes and Cross Nine by Berry van Berkum, after being premiered during the Muziekweek in 2018. Also works by two fellow carillonneurs from Belgium: Eddy Mariën and Geert D’hollander.

We invite the public to come and listen to the concert from the Buurkerkhof, the square behind Museum Speelklok.
