2020 and 2021 were also challenging years for composers. From interaction with musicians and trying out ideas on an audience, to a period of unexpected seclusion. In this concert Orkest De Ereprijs plays music written by young composers during the lockdown. Communication, distance, social sensitivity, absurdity and humour resonate in these musical accounts of a bizarre period.
Orkest De Ereprijs has been encouraging young composers from all over the world to write music for the orchestra for 40 years. They continued to do so during the lockdown, which led to a series of compositions, some of which were given a virtual premiere on YouTube. Now, to celebrate the new season, the orchestra is finally presenting them live on stage.
