How can you transform the audience into co-performers of your music? Composer Wilbert Bulsink has written a piece in which the audience itself influences the composition. Not by playing an instrument themselves, or switching channels on headphones or via a smartphone, but simply by muting the sound of the performance in the concert hall – totally, partially or not at all – by putting their fingers in their ears. This simple action creates a unique experience of the sound.
