At school, knowledge is not only acquired visually, through language and textbooks: we learn with all our senses. By listening, tasting, smelling and touching, and even by using our intuition. In Training the Senses participants explore and discover a new vocabulary for all their senses and new ways to share experience and acquire knowledge.
Training the Senses is a special series which includes performances and lectures supplied by the Marres art institute in Maastricht. Training the Senses aims to bring speakers, performance artists and the audience closer together. This special one-off Gaudeamus edition links music pioneers Aart Strootman (winner of the Gaudeamus Award 2017) and Genevieve Murphy to the concept of Marres. But the public is also very welcome to participate!
