Synthesis is a quest for the amalgamation of three at first sight very different genres; modern classical, electronic and pop. Gaudeamus and EKKO are partners of Synthese and ticket sales go through the latter’s website.
The upcoming Synthesis is all about space and rhythm. In the Pieter Baan Center, the Ragazze Quartet will perform The Evergreen written especially for them by Caroline Shaw. Shaw is the youngest ever winner of the Pulitzer Prize for composition and has previously collaborated with Kanye West and Roomful of Teeth. In The Evergreen, Shaw is inspired by human-nature relationships and explores spatial concepts and how they are used to shape nature.
These themes are echoed in the work of electronic producer Jessica Ekomane, who uses subtle shifts and spatial effects to create a physical and cathartic sound experience on a spatial sound system. Jessica Ekomane presented her installation at the Venice Biennale in 2019 and previously played at CTM festival and Unsound.
