Five musicians from Europe and the United States who have a combined résumé covering everything from contemporary to old music, from (free) jazz to rock: the result is bound to be a colourful, playful band! In its new programme, the Edge Ensemble from American composer Brendan Faegre pays a tribute to the art of playing
Faegres’ own work Love the Cheat (hate the spoilsport), for example, is about the financial tricks played by Goldman Sachs’ CEO Lloyd Blankfein, whose voice has been altered and can be heard throughout the piece. Gaudeamus Award 2017 nominee Ethan Braun has the ensemble improvise with five distinct modes of playing in Degrees of Silence. Also, during Violent push of an unpredictable strategy Genevieve Murphy joins the Edge Ensemble onstage with her bagpipes!
