Fonds 21 awards biennial grant to Gaudeamus

We are very happy that Fonds 21 has awarded us a 100,000 euro grant to support the organisation of our festivals in 2021 and 2022. It is the second time that the fund has awarded a biennial grant to Gaudeamus. This gives us a strong foundation for all our plans for the upcoming two festival editions. It also enables us to realise long-lasting collaborations, both nationally and internationally.

Martijn Buser, artistic director of Gaudeamus says: ‘This generous contribution by Fonds 21 means an important step in being able to also present a high-quality and diverse festival programme in the next two years. Top quality, innovation and reaching new and different audiences is significant to Fonds 21. These are also key elements in our own mission, so this is where we find common ground. Young creatives are having an increasingly difficult time during the ongoing coronavirus crisis. We are very pleased that we can again offer talented musicians and composers the prospect of a stage to create new works and perform these in front of an aucience.’

This year the festival will take place from Wednesday 8 until Sunday 12 September. Of course we will comply with the coronavirus measures that will be in place at that time, but assume that we will be able to offer our programme live as well as online. In order to do so we will work closely with our partners and venues TivoliVredenburg, Muziekhuis Utrecht, Het Huis Utrecht, Kunstruimte Kuub, Nicolai Church and Theater Kikker, that have all proven to safely receive audiences. Behind the scenes we are already busy with the preparations for the festival and eagerly look forward to meeting our audience again.
