Marketing intern wanted

Do you want to learn what it takes to organize a festival? Do you feel at home in an environment where artistic innovation and pushing musical boundaries are core business? Do you like challenges, and do you enjoy a dynamic and hectic work environment? Gaudeamus is looking for an intern to help with the marketing for the upcoming festival (10-14 September), for 16 to 24 hours a week from April to September 2025.

What is Gaudeamus?
Innovation and progress come from the bottom up. That is why Gaudeamus presents, stimulates and supports the latest music by young composers, sound artists and multidisciplinary makers. We do this with our annual festival, composition commissions, the Gaudeamus Award, concert series and residencies. Since 1945, Gaudeamus has introduced curious music lovers to the (composed) music of tomorrow: unheard-of combinations of genres, fresh perspectives on concert practice and radical new inventions in the field of sound and stage art, without boundaries or earmuffs. In 2025 the festival will take place from 10 to 14 September.

Description
As a marketing intern, you will help the festival marketer with the promotion of Gaudeamus Festival 2025. You will help with all layers of the marketing strategy, from simple administrative tasks to creative projects that you execute independently. You will participate as a full member of the small Gaudeamus team and will have the opportunity to get to know all facets of the organization of a festival. The internship is substantive and practical, and can also be combined with a (graduation) research if you wish.

The task list, to be developed together, can contain the following:

  • Maintaining contact with ensembles and composers
  • Collecting texts and image material
  • Designing or editing images and video material
  • Maintaining and supplementing the website
  • Maintaining contact with and supplying material to partners, locations and cultural agendas
  • Contributing to newsletters and social media
  • Guidance of jury and nominees
  • Guidance of international visitors
  • Production and distribution of physical promotional materials

Profile
Gaudeamus is looking for a student (m/f/x), team player type, eager to learn and with a broad musical interest; you want to learn what it takes to organize a festival and would like to think along in terms of content and creativity. You speak (and write) a good word of English and Dutch, you like to get things done and you know your way around Utrecht. You are following a relevant MBO / HBO / WO education (for example an Organization, Culture or Media study).

Gaudeamus strives for a diverse and inclusive organization. Do you not exactly recognize yourself in the above profile, but would you really like to commit yourself to Gaudeamus and new music? Please do not hesitate to respond with your story.

Period
From April to the festival in September (2 to 3 days, in consultation). More extensive availability from the 2nd week of August, increasing to full-time availability during the festival week is desired. Working from home is possible in consultation, but we aim for at least a 25/75 division of working from home / presence at our office in Utrecht. An internship allowance of €375 per month is available for five full internship days per week.
