Gaudeamus has been awarded a generous sum of the Performing Arts Fund NL for a new series of commissions. With this money, various composers have already started writing new music for 2022 en 2023. The Fund is positive about the way that Gaudeamus “stimulates and provides a stage for current developments in the contemporary music field via its commission policy.”
One of the creatives that we are commissioning to make new work is Thomas Ankersmit, who will bring a tribute to the pioneering tape composers of the early years of electronic music, in collaboration with the Canadian AKOUSMA festival. The duo No Plexus of Brechtje van Dijk (Bec Plexus) and Allison Wright (No Compliments) will make a new performance in collaboration with Rewire and November Music. And James Alexandropoulos-McEwan is writing a new piece that will be played at Gaudeamus, but also at the festivals Time of Music in Finland and Warsaw Autumn.
