This year, Gaudeamus will not open registrations for the Gaudeamus Award of next year.
As we revealed in April, the Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2020 will go ahead in a different guise, in which the focus lies on adventurous answers to the question how live music can be experienced in these times of restrictions. A programme that will be all about distance and creativity with strict limitations.
Unfortunately, there is no place in this for the pieces that the nominees for the Gaudeamus Award 2020 submitted. Chances are too slim as well that they will be able to travel to Utrecht in September. Therefore, Jenny Beck, Matthew Ricketts, Annika Socolofsky and Gen Tanaka and their planned contributions to the Gaudeamus Muziekweek will now be presented in 2021.
The Award Ensembles VONK and Zöllner-Roche, who were going to perform the new commissions by the four nominees, will also participate only in the festival of next year.
