On the closing evening of the Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2020 in TivoliVredenburg, festival director Henk Heuvelmans has been appointed Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. Mayor Ap Reinders of the municipality of Stichtse Vecht awarded him this high Royal Decoration for his great achievements in the field of contemporary composed music.
Henk Heuvelmans has been director of the Gaudeamus Muziekweek since 1991. Over the years he has grown into ‘mister Gaudeamus’. He has permanently put the foundation on the map in the national cultural sector. In 2006 Henk Heuvelmans was already appointed Knight in the Order of Oranje-Nassau for his services and today he has been promoted to Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. With his retirement in January 2021, his impressive career in the music world comes to an end.
New director and business manager
Martijn Buser, who has been working as a programmer for Gaudeamus since 2011, will be the new artistic director starting 1 January 2021. In addition, Rogier van Splunder will take office as business manager on 1 October 2020.
