In 2025, Ensemble Klang will celebrate the 80th anniversary of one of the world’s most important new music festivals, Gaudeamus, with The Big Loud Thing. The Gaudeamus Foundation, with the annual festival as one of its most important pillars, has been committed to the future of composers, creators, and music pioneers ever since 1945.
In 2025, Ensemble Klang will delve into a rich and exceptionally varied repertoire with The Big Loud Thing, from early Gaudeamus Award winners such as Pauline Oliveros (winner in 1962) and Louis Andriessen (winner in 1959), to recent highlights by Michel van der Aa (winner in 1999) and Anna Korsun (winner in 2014). In this edition, members of Ensemble Klang will perform alongside the Ensemble Academy of the Royal Conservatoire. The program includes specially arranged works by Aart Strootman (winner in 2017).
