Kluster5 plays the new five-part composition Expeditie by Aart Strootman. The piece is inspired by the first chapter of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, in which the narrator of the story Robert Walton writes about his journey to the North Pole. With the five musicians and an impressive lighting plan as the sixth player, Walton’s journey comes to life musically and visually. With the strategic use of dramatic music, shadows and flashes, you as a spectator are immersed in the world of the expedition in which every step is a leap into the unknown.
PAY ATTENTION: This performance contains flashing lights that can be challenging for people with epilepsy
The Dutch ensemble Kluster5 works closely with a wide variety of composers, choreographers and filmmakers, and likes to be inspired by everyday life: from childhood memories to social media stress to fitness routines. Aart Strootman won the Gaudeamus Award in 2017 and subsequently made a name for himself as an extremely versatile composer, instrument builder and guitarist, with an exciting new piece in the festival programme every few years.
