Gaudeamus has had a special bond with the adventurous Canadian string quartet Quatuor Bozzini for years. The string quartet is known for its challenging repertoire choices and collaborations with composers and sound artists who push the boundaries. This year, the quartet celebrates its 25th anniversary with no less than three unique concerts at Gaudeamus Festival. On the closing day, the quartet presents the new edition of their biennial Composer’s Kitchen.
‘Dare to do what you’ve never done before’: that is the motto of the Composer’s Kitchen, a residency that Quatuor Bozzini organizes every year with four up-and-coming composers. This year, Julia Mermelstein, Lucie Nezri, Niko Schroeder and Corie Rose Soumah were selected. During the Composer’s Kitchen programme, the composers are guided by mentors Zosha Di Castri and Maya Verlaak and attend workshops, labs and masterclasses.
