The young bassoonist Thomas Dulfer has been making a name for himself for several years. In 2023, he was at Gaudeamus Festival with his Duo Dulfer & Witteveen. During the Cultural Sunday, he will perform the solo performance Palpitations (heartbeats) about everything that makes his heart beat faster. With electronics, his own heartbeat literally becomes part of the music.
The program includes the self-written piece Heart SOLO in which Dulfer plays together with his live audible heartbeat and shows what happens to the heart while playing the bassoon. In addition, the entire program is combined with an impressive heartbeat light art installation. By using heart sound and heartbeat data, a unique interaction is created between music and the human heart.
