With the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA), the legendary Ensemble Modern from Frankfurt is working on the future. Every year, talented students are recruited for a 1-year master’s degree and form the IEMA Ensemble, with which they gain invaluable concert experience and work closely with young composers and renowned conductors and soloists. Each year the new generation is given a place in the Gaudeamus Festival.
During this concert, they will play MOM by Golnaz Shariatzadeh, nominated for the Gaudeamus Award 2025, HELL HOT by fellow nominee Robin Haigh, a piece by Gijs van der Heijden commissioned by Gaudeamus and the European Ulysses Platform, and a world premiere by IEMA composer Yuheng Chen.
Gijs van der Heijden’s composition is a co-commission of Gaudeamus Festival and IEMA and is made possible by financial support from the European Union. This concert is part of the Ulysses Platform, co-financed by the European Union.
