Theatre maker, musician-poet and artist-researcher M Alberto, born in Curaçao and living in the Netherlands, makes spiritual performance art in which they give voice to black, queer, anarchist and sex worker activism. During Gaudeamus Festival they present their new performance RADIO VITÓ: a musical essay-poem about resistance, daring to imagine radical change.
In RADIO VITÓ, M (re)searches, with an international eight-person ensemble of innovative makers/musicians, a form in which composition, poetry and improvisation are equal. The texts are based on an ongoing research into special figures in the Caribbean canon and stories of people from all over the world who, on a small or large scale, resist.
With the support of Fonds Podiumkunsten.
Note: This is the performance of a work in progress. Surprises might happen. In the case of technical issues, sections might be restarted, etc. and/or new ideas might appear.
ATTENTION: Trigger warning & viewer discretion – The second half of the shows contains descriptions of political violence and responses to it. These exist in the realm of storytelling; the interviewees, performers and festival do not condone any harmful acts.
