Gaudeamus Terrapolis: Archive Dive

For 80 years, Gaudeamus has offered a stage to young makers and experiments in sound and musical performance. A long and fascinating history, but what can we do with it today? For Terrapolis, our concert series for musical performances that redefine the idea of ​​what a musical performance can be, we invite three young producers from the Stranded FM stable to create new work based on material from our archive. The result will be premiered live in the raw cultural haven of De Nijverheid.

Anushka Chkheidze
The young Georgian electronic music producer and composer Anushka Chkheidze is one of the most promising talents far beyond the country’s borders. Growing up in the small village of Kharagauli, she began singing in the choir at the age of 11. A childhood she describes as magical and still having a strong influence on her current electronic music. She still writes for choirs, as well as film and theatre, pairing her classical background with elements of ambient and experimental electronic music.

EDÓS
EDÓS is the alias – or more accurately, the abbreviation – of Irish DJ and producer Ezekiel Djeribi Ó Stiofáin. A project that grew from a need to sonically ground his research in oceanography, philosophy and colonial history of climate science. EDÓS curates radio at Utrecht’s Stranded FM and is one of the organisers of Keep it Moving. EDÓS’ past radio making has aired on Radio Relativa (ES) and NTS (UK).

chananja
chananja is an artist, DJ, programmer for Stranded FM and writer from utrecht. Drawn to the intimate possibilities of sound, she works in a collage-like way, composing sonic works that combine delicacy and chaos. She likes guitars, words, field recordings, bodies, noise and nature and connects these elements to tell stories devoted to tenderness, care and turbulence.
