Thomas Azier

Over the last 12 years, composer, producer, singer and performer Thomas Azier has been shaping his own special kind of pop music, and lately working more and more with musicians from jazz and classical music. In his new performance and album Power To The People Who Don’t Want It, Azier revisits his own musical compositions through a minimalist approach, morphing synth, sax and his voice into a cinematic piece.

The performance moves fluidly between string arrangements, songwriting, and a more experimental approach inspired by the ‘cut-up’ techniques of Brion Gysin and William S. Burroughs. Sounds and songs are assembled freely, unconstrained by uniformity, weaving together elements of poetry, opera and electronic music. A performance which is at times epic, at times very intimate.
