Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter with Dutch-Ghanaian roots Nana Adjoa is a musical explorer, armed with a refined sense of poetry and a highly developed musical instinct. Behind her daring style of songwriting lies a fearless curiosity and an open attitude towards endless possibilities. Her music is characterized by melancholic indie with influences of trip-hop, jazz and soul.
At Gaudeamus Festival 2025, Nana Adjoa will perform special, new arrangements of her repertoire with the Cello Octet, which will also perform with Nyokabi Kariũki the same evening. Half of the setlist will consist of brand new, unreleased music; an exclusive first introduction to the new album that Adjoa is currently working on, which is being recorded mainly in Los Angeles.
The arrangements by Alistair Sung and René van Munster are a commission of Gaudeamus Festival and are made possible by financial support from the Performing Arts Fund.
