Laura Kampman is a photographer and composer from the Netherlands, a tender experimentalist who, in recent years, has specialized in capturing memories through sound rather than images. Using her phone as a listening device, she collects the sounds of her surroundings: conversations, environmental textures, everyday objects and intimate conversations. Weaving them together with guitar, synthesizer and flute, this results in intimate compositions, collages of found sound and melody, that unfold like a sonic diary.
This year, Laura Kampman is developing a live performance for Gaudeamus using a multi-speaker spatial setup that invites the visitor to step inside her compositions, experiencing them as a surrounding landscape rather than a frontal presentation. A warm, personal listening experience that invites slowness, attention and connection.
