Open Call: Senses Working Overtime
Since 2017, Gaudeamus Muziekweek and the workplace for theater and dance Het Huis Utrecht have been organizing the Senses Working Overtime programme: an exhibition centered around all the senses, with installations and performances that have the performativity of technology as a common denominator. The corona virus raises new questions – or makes existing questions even more urgent. What role can technology play in the performing arts? Can it help us create proximity or intimacy? And to what extent are we prepared to give up our privacy for collective safety? It is a small selection of the many questions that are now being asked.
During the Gaudeamus Muziekweek in 2020 we organize Senses Working Overtime in a different form in Het Huis Utrecht; from a distance and/or for a limited number of visitors that can keep a 1.5 meter distance. We call on makers and collectives to propose work that reacts to these times using technology, which can be presented in September with due observance of the RIVM guidelines. The proposal can be an installation and/or a performance and it can be a continuous or time based project, but must contain both online and offline elements and be presented all the three days of the Senses Working Overtime exhibition.
