Skander Jaïbi is a Tunisian and Dutch composer, audiovisual artist, curator, science educator and one of the founders of the Uncloud Festival in Utrecht. In this ‘live listening session’ he showcases all his various influences, sound processes and contexts, varying from classical compositions to (edited) field recordings.
Coming from a mixed background, Jaïbi was always drawn to both the complexities of traditional Tunisian music and abstract electronic music. He often uses field recordings and archival materials but even in his compositions where these are not used, a fascination for the materiality of sound clearly shines through.
