Club Fluxus: Temko plays Terry Riley

Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2018, newly built instruments, new series

A programme based around the seldom performed work Shri Camel by Terry Riley, composed in ‘just intonation’ and originally for synthesizer. To enable performance of this work, TEMKO has built new instruments (vibraphone, guitar, bass guitar) and Aart Strootman, winner of the Gaudeamus Award 2017, has written a new arrangement. The programme also contains new compositions by Nik Bärtsch, Kate Moore and Anthony Fiumara.

Fluxus, which means ‘fluid’ or ‘constantly changing’, is a series in Club Nine organized in collaboration with TivoliVredenburg. This series focuses on young ensembles and musicians and consists of programmes containing a whole lot of new repertoire showcasing the latest developments in contemporary music. Where possible, the composers will be present and will discuss their own work. The small-scale and informal set-up places the audience in very close contact with the performers.
