KOLYSKA is a special collaboration for the Cultural Sunday occasion. The project takes Ukrainian folk music as the starting point for musical adventure. Featuring Ukrainian folk singer Maryana Golovchenko, Belgian improvising cellist Thomas van Geelen, Ukrainian jazz pianist/soprano Kateryna Ziabliuk, and Turkish/Dutch woodwinds and modular synthesizers player Cengiz Arslanpay, the quartet creates a sound that comes from everywhere and nowhere. By breathing new life into songs that are sometimes 1,000 years old, the quartet shows how old and resilient Ukraine’s music and culture are.
This concert was made possible with the support of ULYSSES Network and Creative Europe.
