American percussionist Eli Keszler is a rising star, but for Gaudeamus he is an old acquaintance: he was already nominated for the Gaudeamus Award in 2012. Keszler explores the limits of how a drum set can sound. He is both a masterful drummer and an adventurous sound magician, which is why he has already played on records by leading electronic music pioneers such as Oren Ambachi, Laurel Halo and Oneohtrix Point Never. While creating his recent solo masterpieces Stadium and Empire, he discovered his own sound, which is somewhere between jazz, hip hop and experimental electronics.
