Ensemble Klang plays Louis Andriessen’s Hoketus
21:20 – 21:45 K.F. Hein Foyer
Two identical ensembles – consisting of piano, keyboard, saxophone, bass guitar, percussion and panpipe (!) – stand directly opposite each other and project chords towards each other in the tightest possible rhythms. That is the basic fact about Hoketus, one of the highly influential masterpieces from the 70s by the Dutch composer Louis Andriessen. From hypnotic minimal music the piece slowly develops into an overwhelming polyrhythmic hurricane of sound.
