How to set up a Music Theater Production

This concert has already taken place. Click here for our current concert programme.

Huba de Graaff creates music theatre productions based on extraordinary subjects. How about porn, or ‘living’ loudspeakers, or an opera consisting entirely of ape noises? She also has a preference for unusual places, such as a fitness centre, the location for Liebesleid (‘Love’s sorrow’), her latest production. How do you set up such a project as a composer? Where do you start? What steps do you need to take? How should you collaborate? What if it all goes pear-shaped? And where do you end up? Huba de Graaff accompanies the young composer in this informative and humorous lecture: an ideal and indispensable first step towards creating music theatre of your own. Moderator Anthony Heidweiller (Opera Forward Festival) will open this lecture.
